Services at Blackmoon Psychotherapy
Individual Therapy: A 50-minute session that is one-on-one, focusing on what you are looking for in therapy. I spend the first sessions with my clients getting to know them: their needs, their experiences, the felt sense of the world, and most importantly, what they are looking for from therapy. We talk, we share, we hold space for tough things, and sometimes we laugh. I work with clients around developing a vision for their care, how to get the most out of this time. We focus on deepening the client's emotional literacy and communication skills.
Couples Therapy: A 50-minute session that focuses on working with clients on some of their most challenging relationship issues. Using an attachment-based lens, I help clients understand their own emotional needs in relationship, and finding effective ways to communicate them. I work with clients to help them re-connect in session, in real time, teaching couples how to offer care and support, while also asking for what they need from one another with compassion. We focus deeply on Non-Violent Communication Strategies, compassion and empathy building, psychoeducation on stress, and how to slow down so that heightened situations of anger or emotion can be calmed.
Family Dyadic Therapy: A 50-minute session for 2 family members to work through relational challenges. These can be parents and children (age 14 and up), adult siblings, adult children and their parents, etc. This support allows for family members to explore issues of communication and stress with an emphasis on building empathy and understanding for the other. This can be a great option for family members who feel they need to work through issues with in their family, but want support during the process in order to feel safe, supported and heard.
